Client: Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts
Location: On-location – Media and Imersive eXperience Center - Mesa, AZ
Role: Director / Producer / Educator

Overview

I directed and produced three seasons of educational video content in partnership with the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. These projects were designed as supplemental course material, giving students additional resources to understand cinema-grade equipment outside of traditional classroom instruction. Across the series, I combined directing, producing, and on-camera teaching to create accessible, practical content for aspiring filmmakers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Season One – Sony FX6 Instruction: Directed and taught episodes focused on the fundamentals and advanced functions of the Sony FX6 cinema camera, helping students develop confidence in professional camera operation.

  • Season Two – MixPre-10 Audio Instruction: Produced and directed a series hosted by Camden, where he instructed students on the MixPre-10 recorder. I oversaw the creative direction, ensuring the episodes delivered clear and structured educational value.

  • Season Three – Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro G2 Instruction: Returned as director, producer, and instructor for a variety of episodes teaching the operation of the URSA Mini Pro G2. These episodes highlighted workflows, technical nuances, and creative applications of the camera.

  • Educational Integration: Structured episodes to serve as supplemental course content, offering students practical demonstrations they could revisit to reinforce classroom instruction.

Outcome

The series became a valuable resource for ASU film students, providing on-demand instruction for mastering complex equipment. My role across three seasons ensured consistency in both educational quality and production value, while also expanding my own expertise as both a filmmaker and educator. These projects reflect my ability to merge creative direction with technical instruction, making advanced tools more approachable for the next generation of storytellers.
